Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Director of Finance and managing the Senior Accountant, this critical role oversees all aspects of financial reporting, compliance, and financial modelling for projects and programmes. You’ll design innovative financial tools, manage budgeting and statutory accounts, and act as a trusted adviser to senior leadership.
This role is perfect for a qualified accountant with a flair for strategic insight and experience leading finance teams in complex public sector environments.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Reporting:
- Lead on financial control across major projects and programmes.
- Develop advanced modelling tools to assess financial scenarios and return on investment.
- Interpret complex data to support senior decision-making and report regularly to SLT.
Budgeting & Accounts:
- Lead the annual budget-setting process and support long-term budget planning.
- Ensure delivery of the Authority’s annual Statement of Accounts and compliance with all statutory deadlines.
- Monitor and report key financial KPIs to leadership and programme managers.
Audit & Compliance:
- Coordinate internal and external audit processes.
- Ensure robust financial governance and risk management across the organisation.
Data & Automation:
- Work closely with the MI Team to automate financial processes and build dynamic reporting tools.
- Drive innovation in digital finance transformation and performance reporting.
Leadership & Management:
- Line manage, mentor, and develop the Senior Accountant.
- Deputise for the Director of Finance and provide senior financial leadership across the Authority.

Essential Skills & Experience
- CCAB-qualified accountant (or qualified by experience).

About the Role
As our Communications & PR Manager, you will oversee the design and delivery of a multi-channel communications and public relations strategy aligned with our sustainability goals. You will lead campaigns, manage digital platforms, and ensure consistent and impactful messaging across all channels.
You’ll work closely with internal teams, borough communications leads, contractors, and external agencies to shape how WLWA is perceived by the public, partners, and policymakers.

Help Drive Recycling and Re-Use Across West London
West London Waste Authority (WLWA) is recruiting 4 proactive and reliable Multi-Skilled Operatives to join our on-site team at Brent’s Waste Transfer Station. You’ll play a vital hands-on role in ensuring waste is sorted, recycled, reused, and diverted from landfill—making a tangible difference for local communities and the environment.
This is a site-based role requiring a flexible approach to shift patterns, including weekend work on a rota basis (with weekend allowance).
About the Role
You will work across multiple functions, including our Waste Transfer Station (WTS), Household Reuse and Recycling Centre (HRRC), Reuse shop, and the weighbridge operation. From greeting customers to operating plant machinery, you’ll support the smooth and safe operation of the site, while helping to maximise recycling, reuse and revenue generation.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Support safe and efficient day-to-day operations at the site
- Help residents and commercial users recycle correctly and safely
- Operate the weighbridge, calculate charges, and manage payment handling

This is a fantastic opportunity to use your machinery skills and make a direct impact in reducing landfill and improving recycling across the capital.
You will be working on the ground with plant equipment such as loading shovels, RoRo shunters, and 360 material handlers to ensure waste is handled efficiently, safely, and in line with environmental goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a variety of mobile plant and machinery (training provided if needed)
- Load and compact waste in containers, ensuring maximum permitted weights
- Sort and separate recyclable materials to maximise recovery
- Assist with traffic control and weighbridge operations when required
- Maintain site cleanliness, including litter picking, sweeping and general upkeep

We are currently seeking an experienced Interim Site Supervisor to provide operational leadership and cover at our busy Abbey Road Reuse and Recycling Centre during a period of transition. This is a 6-month fixed-term post, offering a great opportunity to support frontline services while contributing to environmental outcomes.
Role Overview
You will work alongside an existing Site Supervisor to manage a 7-day site operation, each covering 5 days per week on a rota basis. Together, you will ensure the site runs smoothly, safely, and in line with regulatory and customer service standards.
Reporting to the Senior Site Manager, you’ll lead a team of up to 15 operational staff and help maintain safe, effective, and high-quality service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Share responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the site as part of a supervisory team
- Lead and support staff on your shift, ensuring effective rota coverage and smooth operations
- Maintain site safety, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction
- Oversee incident management, risk assessments, and compliance with all H&S and environmental standards
- Handle staff queries, escalate issues as needed, and liaise with contractors and service partners
- Monitor and report on site performance, contributing to service improvements
- Provide continuity and resilience in site leadership during the interim period
Who We're Looking For
A confident, capable leader with a background in operational supervision—ideally in waste, environmental services, or a related field. You’re ready to step into a collaborative supervisory model, providing hands-on support to staff and customers while ensuring high standards are consistently met.
