However, we know that sometimes the only choice is to dispose of those items that have come to the end of their useful life or are beyond repair. From the broken dining chair you’ve fixed twice in the last year to the hoover that died during your last spring clean! These types of household items, because of their size, are not able to fit in your normal rubbish bin, so they are generally classed as bulky household items.
Typical household bulky items you can get collected
- Large furniture - sofas, bed frames, mattresses, wardrobes, chest of drawers & cupboards
- Small furniture - coffee tables, computer desks, TV stands & baby cribs & footstools
- Large electricals - fridge freezers, washing machines, ovens & dishwashers
- Small electricals – microwaves, audio or computer equipment, televisions & hoovers
- Outdoor – furniture (wood, metal, plastic, rattan), garden hoses & dismantled sheds
- Hard plastics – large plant pots, storage boxes, kids toys & bins
- Miscellaneous – exercise benches, ironing boards, drying racks & coat stands
We won't collect
- DIY waste (including rubble, tiles, flooring, paint, adhesives, toilets etc)
- Garden or green waste
- Hazardous waste (including asbestos, gas bottles, fire extinguishers, oil, petrol or diesel, car batteries, biological or clinical waste)
- Air-conditioning units
- Pianos
- Fixtures & fittings – bathroom sinks, baths, shower enclosures and trays, toilets & boilers
