The Fixery in Richmond

Richmond’s first repair and reuse hub, The Fixery, has become a positive example of how practical climate action can be brought to life locally. It welcomes residents to repair, reuse and swap items, helping them reduce waste, save money and strengthen community connections.

Since opening in March 2026, more than 1,000 people have visited, with over 170 repairs having been completed by volunteer repairers.

Visitors are also able to check out the clothes swap and purchase refill eco laundry and household products, quality craft supplies, and refurbished teddy bears.

Communications have helped build momentum, reaching over 100,000 accounts and generating more than 200,000 impressions on social media, alongside a new Instagram channel launched in May.

The result is a warm, community-led project that is making repair and sustainable living feel accessible, visible and useful for residents. There's even an on-site café with coffee and snacks, where you can sit, relax, and meet people.
