REWORK Launches Ecommerce Shop for refurbished household appliances
Published: 20th June 2025
Groundwork London’s REWORK project is expanding with a dedicated e-commerce platform offering quality refurbished household appliances, such as fridges, freezers, cookers, and washing machines, directly to the public for the first time.
REWORK has primarily provided London’s housing associations, local authorities, and communities with affordable appliances. Thanks to investment and support from Cory, the new website allows members of the public to purchase these items directly, bringing the environmental and social benefits of REWORK to a wider customer base.
Established in 2012, REWORK has grown into one of the UK’s busiest and best-equipped domestic appliance repair workshops. To date, the project has refurbished more than 58,000 electronic appliances, diverted 46,000 pieces of furniture and bikes from landfill, and avoided an estimated 43,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions. It has also provided hands-on skills and employment training to residents as part of its wider social mission.
In addition to the newly launched website, REWORK operates a dedicated eBay store that offers a wide range of replacement parts, including hard-to-find components such as fridge and freezer drawers. These parts, often expensive or unavailable via traditional retailers, allow customers to extend the life of existing appliances affordably, further contributing to waste reduction and a greener economy.
Helen Murphy, Head of Sustainability at Cory, said:
“Cory is proud to support this impactful new initiative from REWORK. Across London, we are seeing increasing demand for second-hand items and a real shift towards waste prevention. Building on over a decade of collaboration, we see REWORK as the ideal partner to help us create meaningful reuse opportunities and deliver lasting value to the communities we serve.”
Keith Perdicou, Reuse Operations Manager of REWORK at Groundwork London, said:
“REWORK is a brand that local organisations, councils and communities rely upon to deliver quality product with the environment in mind. I am proud of our expert team of engineers and REWORKERs who ensure that every product that can be repurposed has a second life. Thanks to the continued support from our partners and our new website, we can reach even more people who want to buy better.”
