RePaint scheme gives leftover paint a second life

Published: 17th July 2026

Paint for reuse

Residents are encouraged to give leftover paint a new lease of life through the RePaint scheme at Abbey Road Household Re-use and Recycling Centre (HRRC).

The scheme gives unwanted paint a second chance to be used instead of being thrown away. Residents can leave usable paint at Abbey Road, where it is made available free of charge for others to take. The scheme helps keep usable materials in circulation and reduces waste.

Whether it's a community group improving a local facility or a charity carrying out refurbishment work, RePaint helps people access a valuable resource for free while preventing good paint from going to waste.

Terry Tudor, Circular Economy Project Manager at West London Waste Authority, said:

"Many tins of paint still contain plenty of usable paint when people finish decorating. RePaint gives residents a simple way to pass it on to someone who can make use of it.”

"The scheme is benefiting local residents, charities and community groups by providing free paint for projects that might otherwise cost much more to complete. At the same time, we're keeping valuable materials in use for longer and helping to reduce waste."

By reusing paint that might otherwise be disposed of, the scheme helps reduce demand for new products and supports a more circular approach to managing resources.

Donate your leftover paint

If you have usable leftover paint at home, bring it to Abbey Road HRRC and help someone else put it to good use.

Every donated tin could help support a local decorating project while giving a valuable resource a second life.

You can book a visit to Abbey Road here.
