Borough Focus: Harrow's Reuse and Repair Fair proves a hit
Published: 06th July 2026
Harrow's first large-scale Reuse and Repair Fair took place in February at Harrow Leisure Centre and was a great success, attracting more than 160 residents.
The event brought together a range of partners to help residents repair, reuse and recycle, while promoting more sustainable lifestyles.
Working with Loanhood, Traid, Restart and Voluntary Action Harrow, residents were able to take part in a clothing swap, access clothing and electrical repairs, and receive laptop repair support.
- 76 people swapped over 230 items of clothing
- 30 residents accessed clothing repairs
- 50 residents used the electrical and laptop repair services
The fair also supported wider recycling efforts, with 129 residents collecting food waste caddies to encourage food waste recycling at home.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with more than 93% of clothing swap participants saying they would attend a similar event again.
Building on this success, Harrow will host another Reuse and Repair Fair on Saturday 25 July at Victoria Hall. Alongside clothing swaps, clothing repairs and small electrical repairs, the event will also feature Dr Bike, offering free bicycle safety checks and minor repairs.
Hosting it at Victoria Hall brings the event to the heart of the community. The recycling team will be on hand to provide recycling advice and answer residents’ questions, as well as providing a range of useful items, including food waste caddies and liners.
