Work and Play Scrapstore
Ever wondered where to get materials to do arts and crafts projects with a group of children, or to jazz up some clothes or furniture? Perhaps you want to make a giant sculpture out of stuff that would otherwise have been thrown away but don’t know how to get your hands on all the bits and pieces needed to put it all together and make it a little more colourful.
If this describes your situation and you’re looking for that one place with a variety of material for your home, school or community re-use project, then why not sign up to become a scrapstore member.
Our local scrapstore is the Work and Play Scrapstore based in Tooting, South London. It’s a voluntary organisation and re-use charity and has a wide assortment of clean materials for art, craft, design or creative play,
In return for paying an annual membership fee (the type of organisation you are determines the amount you pay) you can visit them as often as you like to source materials for your projects. As a member you will find a vast array of materials, such as paper, fabric, card, buttons, sequins, paint, carpet tiles, uniforms, patterned material and much more. As well as students and families, current members also include schools, nurseries, theatres, therapeutic and community groups.
All of the items at the scrapstore have been donated as surplus by eco-friendly businesses.
