Hounslow Residents – Are you ready for your Recycling Refresh?
Hounslow residents will soon be receiving their new red and blue recycling boxes ahead of the refreshed weekly recycling collection service.
Hounslow Council needs residents’ help to recycle food waste, plastics, cans, paper, card and glass bottles. While 31 per cent of the borough’s waste is recycled each year, £1.3 million a year in disposal costs could be saved if that recycling figure is increased to 50 per cent.
In order to help Hounslow residents hit the 50 per cent target, Hounslow Council is giving every house in the borough the following:
- A new red recycling box for plastics and cans
- A new blue recycling box for paper and card along with a box net to use as a cover on windy days
- A roll of 52 biodegradable bags for food waste.
Information leaflets explaining the collection changes and how residents should use the new recycling boxes have already been sent out to all Hounslow residents who live in houses.
Here is all you need to know:
When will I receive my new red and blue recycling boxes?
Your new red and blue recycling boxes will be delivered between Monday 5th June and Friday 30th June, along with detailed information about your weekly recycling collections (including plastics) and what you need to recycle in what box. Hounslow residents should start using the new boxes as soon as they receive them.
Hounslow residents can find out the exact date of when they will receive their new recycling boxes on the Hounslow Council website
Once I receive my new recycling boxes, what will be collected every week?
Once Hounslow Council have delivered your new recycling boxes (between Monday 5th June and Friday 30th June) they will then collect all recycling the following week on the same collection day. Please see the Hounslow Council website for further information on what can be recycled.
All other rubbish, in black wheelie bins, will be collected every fortnight starting from Monday 10 July 2017.
