Strategy
Most countries have a national waste strategy. In the UK there are strategies for dealing with waste in England, Scotland and Wales.
Each strategy is different but usually includes information on: key issues; performance; and the government’s future focus.
The majority of new Environmental legislation in the UK is based on European Commission regulations or directives. Find out about waste in Europe.
West London Joint Municipal Waste Management Strategy
In 2005 the six boroughs and WLWA developed a waste strategy, which was updated in 2009. Its purpose is to set out how we all intend to work together to manage the waste in the West London area until 2020.
There was consultation on the strategy with:
- The public
- Local organisations
- Councils
- The Mayor of London
- Government departments
