We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead the contractual delivery of the Authority’s operations, efficiently contract management several major contracts (worth over 12 million per annum), the Transfer Station and Household Reuse and Recycling Centre (HRRC) service operated directly by WLWA.
This role is client facing with a diverse public audience. The successful post holder will be entrusted with the responsibility of nurturing sensitive stakeholder relationships and the management of the interfaces across all WLWA operational arrangements. This is a PO8 position and dependent on experience we are offering £51,836 – £57,170 inclusive of London weighting, weekly hours are flexible from 28.8 hours to 36 hours.
The ideal candidate is an inspiring leader who shares our values, educated to degree level or has significant waste operations management experience, working towards or completed the WAMITAB Certificate of Technical Competence for a waste management facility, IOSHH, and NEBOSH Certificate for Managing Safely.
West London Waste is a statutory Waste Disposal Authority (WDA) responsible for disposing of waste produced by 1.7 million residents, collected across the London Boroughs of Brent, Ealing, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow and Richmond upon Thames. We are looking for Waste Minimisation Operatives (WMOs) to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of a positive user experience whilst maximising the treatment of waste as a valuable resource. WMOs are the first public point of contact at our Abbey Road Household Reuse and Recycling Site, composed candidates with excellent communication skill will stand out. This job is subject to a rota which includes weekends and bank holidays. Industry experience is not essential but will be added advantage. This is a Scale 4 post offering £22,067 – £23,724 (Incl. West London Waste is recruiting an experienced Commercial Manager to support the Contracts manager with tendering and managing contracts worth c. £10m per
annum. You will manage the procurement of short and medium term contracts to meet the changing waste management needs of our six Borough Partners. We will count on you to deliver value for money services within relevant legislative requirements, identifying, and developing relationships with new suppliers. You will have either a commercial or waste operations background.
In this role, you will be equally comfortable developing relationships with suppliers and writing procurement documentation and reports. This role contributes to the review and development of our business plans, annual reports, and committee reports. This will involve the provision of statistical and other management information, making recommendations and providing professional support and advice. High-level reporting skills and ability to produce and present insightful analytical reports are vital.
You will support the management of contractor relationships across a diverse portfolio of contracts in line with agreed procedures to ensure the performance levels, contractual obligations and commercial principles are delivered. Personal discipline, leadership, accountability, negotiation and stakeholder management skills are essential to successful delivery of this role.
The post holder must be willing to undergo security checks by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Waste management industry experience is desirable.
