Disco Soup – Lettuce Dance to the Beet!
Get your dancing shoes on and your vegetable peelers out! We can’t wait to host you, together with special guest stars, at our first-ever Disco Soup 7:00PM 27 October at Pinner Village Hall. While the event is free, spaces are limited so please register on EventBrite to ensure entrance on the night.
Did you know as a nation we throw away 1 out of every 5 bags of food shopping! People living on their own could save £290 a year and families could save up to £700 by reducing the amount of food they throw away. We want everyone to join us in celebrating food and the delicious ways we can use it up instead of tossing it out. At this festive gathering residents, food waste experts, and chefs will all get together to prepare a delicious meal from surplus food.
Our fabulous ingredients, rescued from an unsavoury end, will be generously donated by the fantastic food redistribution charity FareShare, as well as by the local Sainsbury in Pinner. After peeling and chopping to some funky disco beats, our meal will be cooked by the wonderful chef Marie Cudennec, of Bain-Marie, while we hear from leaders in the food waste movement including FareShare and Olio.
The night will also include our famous smoothie bike, fun games and facts to test your food knowledge, an interactive art installation, a chance to connect with other food waste enthusiasts AND theatrical contributions from human fruit! It will surely be a night you don’t want to miss!
If for some reason you can’t make it, but would like to know more, we are happy to come meet individual groups. We give interactive talks to groups, run information sessions, have stands at community events and train up food champions. Find out more here.
See you on the night!
