Congratulations to our Waste Week Winner
Congratulations to St. Richard’s C of E Primary School in Ham for winning our Waste Week 2017 competition! Now in their third year of participation, St. Richard’s has won for the first time. Student’s collected a whopping 260 kilograms of electrical waste – or nearly one kilogram per pupil. The school will now receive a £500 voucher to spend on sports and science equipment. Here’s to a job well done!
Waste Week 2017
Waste Week is a UK wide week-long school recycling campaign run by EDF Energy’s education programme, The Pod. This year’s theme focused on upcycling and getting everyone to think differently about waste.
Five west London schools participated in our competition this year, collecting a total of 540 kilograms of electrical items that have been sent for recycling.

Don’t worry, there are lots of ways to get involved with electricals recycling. Start by having a look at our electrical waste reduction page on our website. You’ll find ideas for how to reduce your electrical waste, from repairing to buying used items.
Feeling inspired? Try hosting your own collection! Electricals recycling events are easy to organise and something almost everyone can join in with. All you need is:
- a location that can be easily accessed
- a space to put all the items brought along until the collection happens
- someone to do a bit of organising
